I had my first session helping infants at our local school to read yesterday. They all came charging in from the playground at 1.30, two clutching makeshift bandages to their eye/nose. The teacher told them to sit on the carpet quietly and listen to the music. Some did. But not one small boy.
Teacher: Everyone - put your hands on your knees please.
Small boy (putting his hands over his eyes) shouted: EVERYONE! PUT YOUR HANDS OVER YOUR EYES -PUT YOUR HANDS OVER YOUR EYES NOW!!!
I had to look away.
The 4 little children who read to me were small, and had interesting names - and they were all adorable.
