I should add that the reason I went to Trieste was to have a 'procedure' done on a large thyroid nodule which was found. The surgeon wanted to remove half my perfectly healthy thyroid so I did some research and came up with thermal ablation. It cost about £3000 to have done but I got £2600 reimbursed from the NHS as it wasn't available in the UK - even though approved by NICE.
